A shy artist called Tony Takitani marries a younger woman who loves buying clothes. Really loves buying clothes.

Based on a short story by Haruki Murakami (a new discovery of mine), and gently directed by Jun Ichikawa, Tony Takitani is a quirky and touching slice of life with nice cinematography and a great soundtrack. The narration makes it feel more like illustrated prose than cinema at times, but with a writer as good as Murakami that's really the best approach.

Good stuff.
