Osaka Tough Guys (1995)
Two kids drop out of high school and accidentally join a 3rd rate yakuza whose plans to make money are miserable failures. A bunch of stupid stuff happens and there's an explosion at the end.
Takashi Miike can make gold out of horse manure, but not here. Awful acting, crude humour and production values lower than most porn get in the way of his usual wit and invention too often. There are a few moments which show his at the time budding talent, but too many that are just plain tedious. I think it's the only Miike film where I found myself hitting "fast forward" towards the end.
Maybe I'd appreciate it more in a different mood, but first impressions say "Not recommended".
