Remake of BCG with a new cast

Revenge of Nero is basically a remake of Bloody Chainsaw Girl with a new, younger cast and running even shorter (just 50 minutes).

Presumably the intention was to reboot the franchise with a new cast in preparation for the sequel, which was released the same year - given the sub-hour length it was perhaps intended to be a series, though only the two "episodes" seem to have been made.

The cast seems to be more age-appropriate for their characters, and arguably better looking, but they don't have quite the same charisma... or gravitas if that word can possibly be applied to such a film - they don't seem to inhabit their characters quite as fully.

The film is a little watered down in comparison to its predecessor - it still features mutant cyborgs being carved up with a chainsaw, but on a smaller scale and (even) lower budget. It does unexpectedly drop some full frontal nudity in at one point though.

A pleasant enough diversion, but if you've seen the original you won't be missing much if you skip this.
