A promising start for Milkyway Image

The Wong Kar-Wai influence is strong in this, the first film from Milkyway Image. BEYOND HYPOTHERMIA plays like an ode to Fallen Angels in the beginning, with Wu Chien-Lien's taciturn hitwoman lamenting her lack of human connections via inner monologue, whilst Lau Ching-Wan speaks philosophically about noodle soup.
... then It inexplicably turns into a Korean Yakuza film for a while, then flips back into WKW mode when the action returns to Hong Kong before plunging into a fatalistic finale that is pure Milkyway Image.
Good stuff!
