A nasty slice of rape revenge with a fairly minimal setup and a messy, protracted revenge which is probably more gruesome but less cathartic than you expect it to be.

The film is never generous to any of its characters, and it paints a bleak picture of the world they live in... nobody has much expectation of a happy ending, it's just not on the table and they (mostly) all know it.

I guess the question it asks is, if that's the hand you've been dealt, how do you play it? It doesn't particularly suggest that there is a right answer.

Lam Nai-Choi was always one of Hong Kong's most interesting directors, never quite following trends and always seeking to push boundaries in his films, one way or another, making for quite the unique filmography.
