An unemployed advertising executive finds himself at the centre of a media circus when a freak accident leaves him cranially impaled at an archaeological dig site.

AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT is pretty tame by Alex De-la Iglesia's standards, there's not much craziness or outrageous escalation. You can tell it was made in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis, channelling the sense of despair and injustice felt by many as the ill behaviour of the world's elite wrought havoc on everybody else. Assault On Wall Street it is not, though... which is a shame, because an Alex de-la Iglesia version of that would be awesome, now that I think about it.

Instead it's a relatively timid plea to treat each other more kindly and value the non-material things in life, like being married to Salma Hayek.
