MEN SUDDENLY IN BLACK is filmed like a classic "men on a mission" crime film, but where the mission is to cheat on their wives whilst they're out of town. A razor sharp satire and one of Hong Kong's smartest comedies.
Pang Ho Cheung announced his arrival proper with this directorial masterclass, simultaneously a spoof of the Heroic Bloodshed genre, a hilariously transgressive sex comedy, a frank tour of Hong Kong's prolific sex industry and a surprisingly thoughtful and honest look at relationships... all rolled into 95 beautifully shot and performed minutes.
It also somehow manages to deliver one of the best shoot-outs in Hong Kong Cinema, despite not featuring a single gun.
