Gritty 70's crime drama about a kidnapping that goes awry. Very awry! The story isn't complicated, but the script is very well written and makes believable characters for the cast. Lo Lieh and Fan Mei-Sheng especially make the most of this opportunity and give superlative performances, amongst the best either actor produced. The film particularly excels in the final act, following the gangsters all the way to the gallows to prove "crime doesn't pay". Nice direction & production values make this another winner from Ching Gong.
