Baby Assassins: Nice Days (2024)

The girls try to enjoy some R&R in the South of Japan when they travel there for work, but after their hit is thwarted by another assassin reaching the target before they do, the guild demands that they take out this freelancer to protect their reputation. Only problem, he's tough as nails and nearly killed them last time they met.
The third official entry in one of my favourite series from recent years (aka the 21st Century) continues to evolve the series, this time with a more plot-driven entry, a change of scenery and some new characters.
The core appeal of the film remains the quirky, likeable characters (and the actresses that embody them) plus the superlative action scenes choreographed by Kensuke Sonomura, who continues to refine his signature style of fast, precise, complex and fluid action design.
It's another charming addition to the franchise that pops visually and offers enough that's new to keep the feeling that this setup isn't running out of ideas any time soon - which is fortunate, as there's apparently now an entire TV series to continue it. Looking forward to being able to watch it!
