The story to RENDEZVOUS WITH DEATH is quite straightforward, without being simplistic or facile. It doesn't add anything particularly new to the world of wu xia films, but it does what it does well. In other hands, the film could easily have been rubbish, or at best kind of forgettable, but Sun Chung and his cast/crew turn it into good entertainment.

Wong Yu isn't my favourite leading man, but Lo Lieh turns in such a good supporting performance he quite makes up for it. The action isn't 'best of breed', but it's all solid stuff. I can't call it 'classic' material, but it's definitely one to watch for fans of the genre.
