A bit lacking in dramatic tension since basically everything happened in the past but it's an interesting story and well enough told. The film-in-film CHICAS Y MALETAS is an amusing homage to Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, but perhaps highlights that BROKEN EMBRACES itself is missing a certain spark that would have made it as memorable as that earlier classic.
